MCE Mailand 27.03.2012 . – 30.03.2012
After four intense days, the Mostra Convegno Expocomfort trade fair in Milan finally came to a close on 30 March. The Mostra Convegno Expocomfort is one of the world’s leading trade fairs in cooling, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning technology. The key themes underlying the four exhibition areas of Heat, Cold, Water and Energy were innovation, comfort, energy efficiency and energy saving. NARVA exhibited for the second time in the solar power section as a supplier of vacuum tubes for solar panels. The fair is predominantly attended by professionals. The fair was a good opportunity for NARVA to maintain contact with long-standing customers, identify new trends with technicians, buyers and installers and establish new contacts.

The starting signal for the
"Dresden-Dakar-Banjul-Challenge"
On the Friday before the start the glasses were raised in a toast to a good journey together with the team "Sandlovers" and friends, helpers and sponsors in the domestic Chemnitz. The adventure of the "Ostblock Customs" was already disturbed during the first stage to Hohberg by the police officers. They wanted to check the driving licence and the vehicle. Hopefully also the third team member carries all the documents properly
Sadly on the first kilometres on the motorway one of the forty vehicles broke down because of a damage of the clutch. This vehicle is part of the team "Wüstenadler". Other surprises for the attendants on the previous routes among other things were bonnets opening themselves while driving, evaporating pieces of vulcanised rubber in the Buick-Motor and professionally repaired exterior mirrors.
After the first, very stormy weekend in France luckily had been endured safely, the journey went on to Madrid. Stage 3 – with almost 900 kilometres the longest part of the challenge. In stage 5 the team “Wüstenadler” was able to join the others again after a successful reparation of the clutch. At this point the team “Inschallah” was not that lucky – with an assumed broken diesel injection pump there had to be a stopover in Bordeaux.
The other attendants of the Dresden-Dakar-Banjul-Challenge ferried across to Morocco with wind speed 12 and were given a good shaking on the ferry – quasi a little foretaste of the things that would wait for them during the stages in the deserts. The rain almost was a constant companion of the rallye. Apparently it decided to take the same route and so at the arrival in Africa it was there, too. There Alexander from the team 234 promtly had an experience with an alleged police officer and assumed wrong documents. But because of the cooperativeness of two other teams this problem was solved quickly.
After 3700 kilometres on the motorway the “Ostblock Customs” together with the “Sandlovers” sallied out to cross the Atlas Mountains off the beaten track. So far they have not broken down - Hopefully the Ford Transit including its passengers endures the hard upcoming stages in the deserts as good as it has been so far. We stay tuned!

German-Polish cooperation
for innovation and sustainability
Within the scope of the international trade fair for environmental technology POLEKO on 25th November 2009 the innovation-forum “Erneuerbare Energien” (“Renewable Energy”) took place in Poznan, Poland. Initialized by the German Embassy in Warsaw and supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research the organizers set themselves the target to support the cooperation between German and Polish companies. Thereby mainly smaller and medium companies take centre stage.
Sebastian Hesse represented NARVA at the innovation-forum with a presentation
which introduced the collaboration between NARVA and the Polish customer Hewalex in the field of solar heat.
Furthermore the current situation of renewable energy in Poland was analysed and possible perspectives were highlighted.
Because of the high number of more than 200 attendants at the innovation-workshop the NARVA-presentation was available to a bigger interested professional audience.
In May 2010 an industry-forum for solar heat takes place in Poznan.

NARVA Trade Solartechnik becomes a member of the Mitteldeutscher Warenzeichenverband NARVA e.V. (Central German Trademark Association NARVA)
NARVA Trade Solartechnik is the youngest member of the Mitteldeutscher Warenzeichenverband NARVA e.V. This was decided unanimously at the general meeting on 19th October 2009. The Mitteldeutscher Warenzeichenverband NARVA e.V. with its domicile in Plauen preserves the worldwide protection and supports the propagation of the trademark “NARVA“.
The denominative mark description arose historically as the trademark of the eastern German lamp and light industry, primarily for high pressure lamps. Later almost all of the lamps and lights produced in the German Democratic Republic were sold under that trademark. In 1963 the entry into the national trademark register happened, in 1964 there was the entry into the international trademark register.
After the political rebound in Germany the Mitteldeutscher Warenzeichenverband NARVA e.V. was established and became the owner of the trademark “NARVA“. The members, former companies of the eastern German lamp and light industry, since then have had the only rights of use on that trademark for their special fields of products.
In the now five independent companies of the association more than one thousand members of staff are occupied.

Participants of the first Saxon workshop “Solar Process Heat“.
In the presence of Saxony's Prime Minister Prof. Dr. Milbradt was on 11th June 2007 the automatic production line for vacuum tubes in operation.
The 5 year venture into vacuum tubes at NARVA
The Idea was conceived on 8th July 2004, which ultimately lead to the entry of a traditional fluorescent lamp manufacturer into the manufacture of vacuum tubes which took place at NARVA.
The initiators Günter Schaffron, Dieter Hesselnberg und Karl Heinz Remmers put a Sydney-tube on the desk from Dr. Gerhard Mientkewitz; general manager, and asked him: “Could you produce this kind of product?” The product was attractive because the material and the manufacturing technology is very like the lamp manufacturing.
The Sydney-type soon was given up and in fall 2004 it was clear that NARVA will produce the direct flow single wall vacuum tube. After a relative short development time with support from German Federal Environmental Foundation we could start 2005 with the prototype production. At the beginning of 2006 happened the test from the first collector.
Today NARVA produces besides the direct flow tube the heat pipe based on a own solution. Overall we could register 10 trade mark rights until now. In 2008 at the 18th Symposium on Solar Thermal Energy in Kloster Banz received Innovation Award speaks for the recognition and acceptance of NARVA as a new member of the Solar Industry.

Participation on 19th OTTI Symposium Thermal solar energy from 6th until 8th May 2009 in Kloster Banz, Bad Staffelstein.

In his poster presentation, Dr. Mientkewitz, general manager NARVA, presented the new product NARVA heat pipe.
The main issue was the mathematical / experimental approach to the development of this product with a trademark right.
Obviously applied NARVA with the newly developed heat pipe to the Innovation Award of the symposium. After winning 2008 this time we weren`t so successful.
Let`s try it again in 2010!
